MUSIC VIDEOS COMPETITION

Starting this year, Plus Camerimage will be presenting an Award for Best Cinematography in a Music Video. The cinematographers attending the Festival will vote for the best among the six nominated videos. The audience award will also be presented. Additionaly, each of the attending nominated cinematographers will also be presented to the festival in a one and a half hour individual open seminar, to be moderated by Daniel Pearl, ASC, recipient of the Golden Frog at the 2006 Camerimage Festival in honor or his Lifetime Achievement in the Field of Music Videos and Advertising Spots.
Often mistakenly considered the illegitimate child of filmmaking, this genre has broad reaching appeal and influence on an international scale. From the beginning it has been a place where experimentation and innovation were not only encouraged but expected. Music videos have given birth to numerous film techniques that have ultimately found their way into the vocabulary of feature films. They have, and will continue to provide a professional training ground for some of today's most respected cinematographers and directors, as well as having greatly influenced the visual sophistication of today's audiences. Music videos are an integral part of the evolution of filmmaking of all types, and we are proud to support them by honoring six of the best cinematographic achievements of the past year.
All the guests (so the audience as well!) of Plus Camerimage can vote for one of the nominated videos, and the one with the largest number of votes receives the Audience Award. The voting takes place in the Press Office, between 30th Nov and 5th Dec till 6 pm. You need to state your name and the chosen video. Cinematographers and non-cinematographers vote in two different categories, please state your category.
All the nominated videos will be presented at a special screening in the Festival Center in the Grand Theatre on Tuesday 2nd December at 10.30 pm. Below you will find their preview versions.
